CFO / Treasurer

Location: New Orleans, La - Hybrid Eligible

Position Summary:

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented CFO / Treasurer to oversee our financial operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity of our fiscal activities and guiding our financial strategy to maximize our impact on the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax filings and regulations.

Manage and report on the organization’s financial status to the Board of Directors and stakeholders.

Develop and implement robust financial policies and procedures to ensure transparency and efficiency.

Collaborate with leadership to align financial management with strategic goals.

Lead the annual audit process and maintain relationships with external auditors and financial consultants.

Provide financial insights and guidance on fundraising activities, grant management, and capital allocation.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a CFO, Treasurer, or equivalent role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

Expert knowledge of nonprofit financial management, including tax filing, compliance, and reporting requirements.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification highly preferred.

Commitment to the mission of empowering single mothers and improving community well-being.

Time Commitment:

The CFO/Treasurer role requires a commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per month. Meetings with the board and financial oversight tasks will be scheduled in advance to accommodate your existing commitments. We understand the value of your time and aim to make your volunteer experience both impactful and manageable.

Other Requirements:

Ideal candidates should have a robust background in finance or accounting, preferably with experience in nonprofit settings. You must be proficient in financial software and tools, and have the ability to prepare, analyze, and present financial reports. Integrity, transparency, and a passion for our mission are essential qualities. As this role involves strategic financial planning and oversight, previous experience in financial leadership roles is highly desirable. Candidates must also be willing to undergo a background check as part of the selection process.

Single Mother Recruitment

Must be willing to make phone calls and send e-mails to community organizations to recruit single mothers to attend the retreat. Also responsible for calling and following up with single mothers throughout registration. Training provided. You don't need any experience.


Birth Support

Are you a compassionate and experienced mother with a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of single mothers during childbirth? Join [Organization/Program Name] as a Volunteer Birth Support Companion!

Experienced Mother: Ideally, you've experienced childbirth and understand the challenges and joys it brings.

Commitment: Availability to volunteer during childbirth sessions, with a flexible schedule.


Chief Technology Officer / Internship

Must be willing to develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the non-profit's mission and objectives. Identifying opportunities for leveraging technology to advance the organization's work and enhance its effectiveness. As well as having some experience/knowledge of leadership, team management, technology infrastructure, information systems management, data analytics, digital transformation, cybersecurity, collaboration, budgeting, resource management, and staying current with industry trends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, or engineering. Advanced certifications or relevant training are a plus.


Public Relations

Must be willing to promote the retreat (before and after) by e-mailing press releases to the local and national media, applying for awards, and making follow-up phone calls. Also responsible for inviting celebrities to participate in events. Training provided. You don't need any experience. Fundraising & In-Kind Donations.

Do you want to learn or have experience with fundraising? This individual contacts past donors (via e-mail and/or phone) as well as potential corporate sponsors and vendors for the retreat. They also contact local businesses and colleges for in-kind donations (gift certificates, t-shirts, raffle items, etc.). Training provided. Contacts provided. You don't need any experience.



Grant writing

Do you want to learn or have experience with writing grants? This person identifies, writes, and submits grants for PickneyFoundation, Inc®. Training provided. You don't need any experience.

Videographer

Do you enjoy videography? This individual videotapes the annual EmpowerHER Retreat and creates a promotional marketing video for Pickney Foundation, Inc®. You'll need to have experience in videography. You must have your own equipment.

Web Designer

Do you enjoy working with websites? This individual occasionally updates our PickneyFoundation, Inc® website. Must be familiar with website editing platforms. SEO experience is preferred but not required.

Graphic Designer

Do you enjoy graphic design? This individual designs flyers, website banners, social media banners, t-shirt designs, and art for publications in coordination with the Pickney Foundation, Inc® team. Experience is required. Must have Adobe Creative Suite software or any graphic design software.

Social Media

Do you like interacting via social media? This individual creates weekly posts on the Pickney Foundation, Inc® Facebook and Twitter page, strategically building our online presence. Also, you'll be responsible for appropriately responding to comments and messages. You don't need any experience. Training provided.

Blogger

Do you enjoy writing? This individual writes articles for the Pickney Foundation, Inc® website and social media sites. They also recruit other individuals to write guest posts for the blog. Must have good writing skills. Experience is preferred but not necessary for you. Training provided.

Publications

This individual creates our monthly E-Newsletter to maintain contact with single mothers, community members, volunteers, and donors of Pickney Foundation, Inc® using online software. Training provided. You don't need any experience.

Event Coordinator

Do you enjoy planning and hosting events? This individual is responsible for planning occasional socials and events for team members, donors, board members, and supporters. Budget provided. Training provided. Experience preferred but not required.

Hospitality

Do you enjoy scheduling and coordinating? These individual books celebrities and speakers to attend our events. They make travel reservations and manage the company's calendar.
